Easy, Breezy Summer Decorating
Tips for Your Home
The summer
season tends to be very busy, but it is also a
great time to update the look of your home.
Below are 7 great tips for completing those
summer decorating projects with a minimum of
time and money.
- Painting is a quick and easy way to
brighten up any room. You can paint just one
focal wall to save even more time and money.
Most average sized rooms will have a wall
that can be painted in about an hour.
- Use “no sew” techniques to create new
tablecloths and pillow covers. You can cover
a pillow by wrapping it on the diagonal with
a piece of unfinished fabric and then use
ribbon to secure it. Older tablecloths and
flat sheets can be made into the perfect
sized tablecloth with just a little duct
tape on the hems. Use the same technique to
create floor length covers for your end and
coffee tables, and then use the room
underneath to store toys, books, and shoes.
- Remove all those dusty collectables from
around the room and take a good look at
them. Choose a very select number of
favorite items to display and store or
dispose of the rest. You will have a must
easier time cleaning and the look of your
home will be must less cluttered.
- Toss some sunflower seeds into a sunny
part of your yard. This will enable you to
have fresh flowers in your home without the
expense of running to the florist all the
time. A little packet of sunflower seeds can
give you flowers that look great in your
yard and home, are very simple to grow, and
can last for up to 10 days in a vase.
- Summer often calls for a cooling down of
the home. One way to do this is put away
your area rugs and take down heavy layered
window treatments. To protect your privacy
leave just your sheers or mini blinds up in
the window.
- You can also get a fresh summer look by
cleaning glass wherever it appears in your
home. Some commonly overlooked glass in the
home includes television screens, picture
frames, and kitchen appliances. Just a few
minutes and a little bit of glass cleaner
can really brighten up the look of your
home.
- Take a fresh look at the rooms you have
been living in during the winter months and
brighten up the décor. You can add
table
lamps or change your furniture
arrangements, and mix and match accent
pieces from other rooms. Take your fine
china out of the cabinet and put it on
display. Put any small kitchen appliances
that are rarely used in the cabinet for a
cleaner more streamlined look.
The ideas on this list are easy, inexpensive,
and can really make your home sparkle this
summer. Try just a couple of them and see if
they improve the look and feel of your home.
